The Tempter is Conquered

Dear Fellow Disciples, peace.

The tempter's focus was always to detract Jesus from his mission. He knew that getting Jesus to question his condition as Son of God, he could push him away from the mission of restoring the communion between God and humanity. What he didn't know was that Jesus would never give in. He would never disobey the Father, because being one with the Father and the Holy Spirit, the plan and mission were also created and decided by him.

The Christian community understood Jesus in light of the experience of Adam. While Adam was convinced by the seduction of the serpent, the Son of God, the new Adam, stayed firm in his resolve in the face of temptation. Adam was the symbol of disobedience to the Father, Jesus the example of perfect obedience and fidelity, and paid a high price for such firmness.

The disciples find themselves in the same situation in which Jesus was in. The tempter is always trying to make them fall into disobedience and betrayal. Staying firm in their resolve and confronting the tempter will always be a challenge for them. The example set by the Master will be always an essential reference they will need to go back to. As Jesus maintained his firmness in the face of the tempter, in the same way, the disciples will maintain themselves. The way Jesus conquered they also will conquer. If they stay alone in disobedience and betrayal they will not be conquerors but conquered.

May the Holy Spirit empower us to this battle against the tempter who is always after us like a roaring lion. May the Lion of Judah be always our defender and guide.

El Tentador es Conquistado

Queridos discípulos, paz.

El objetivo del tentador siempre fue desviar a Jesús de su misión. Sabía que hacer que Jesús cuestionara su condición de Hijo de Dios podría alejarlo de la misión de restaurar la comunión entre Dios y la humanidad. Lo que no sabía era que Jesús nunca cedería. Nunca desobedecería al Padre, porque siendo uno con el Padre y el Espíritu Santo, el plan y la misión también fueron creados y decididos por él.

La comunidad Cristiana entendió a Jesús a la luz de la experiencia de Adán. Mientras Adán fue convencido por la seducción de la serpiente, el Hijo de Dios, el nuevo Adán, se mantuvo firme en su resolución ante la tentación. Adán fue el símbolo de la desobediencia al Padre, Jesús el ejemplo de perfecta obediencia y fidelidad, y pagó un alto precio por tal firmeza.

Los discípulos se encuentran en la misma situación en la que se encontraba Jesús. El tentador siempre está tratando de hacerlos caer en la desobediencia y la traición. Mantenerse firmes en su resolución y enfrentar al tentador siempre será un desafío para ellos.

El ejemplo del Maestro será siempre una referencia imprescindible a la que deberán volver. Así como Jesús mantuvo su firmeza frente al tentador, de la misma manera, los discípulos se mantendrán a sí mismos. De la manera que Jesús venció, ellos también vencerán. Si se quedan solos en la desobediencia y la traición no serán vencedores sino conquistados.

Que el Espíritu Santo nos dé fuerzas para esta batalla contra el tentador que siempre nos persigue como un león rugiente. Que el León de Judá sea siempre nuestro defensor y guía.
