The Holy One of God

Dear Fellow Disciples, peace.

The evangelist uses the voice of a man with an unclean spirit to identify who Jesus is most accurately, The Holy One of God! This expression synthesizes the identity of the Master in the most peculiar way. Holiness was a mark of Jesus' ministry and proximity with God, the Holy par excellence. Jesus is Holy because He is God with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Also because in His life and heart there was no space for selfishness, nor did it influence His actions.

In Him, all was continuous oblation and self-giving to the Father and us. His life was and still is a continuous coming out of Himself to serve. Nobody comes in contact with Him without being welcomed and touched. His fight against evil and injustice was also an expression of His holiness. His holiness did not allow Him to close an eye in the face of corruption and the oppression of the little ones, nor with the marginalization of the weak and defenseless. Exactly for His holiness, he placed Himself on the opposite side of the adversarial forces of the Kingdom of God, not fearing the consequences.

The source of His holiness was and is God the Father and the Holy Spirit, with Whom He was and is always in perfect communion. A holiness profoundly theological. May the Holy Spirit make us "Holy as [our] Father in heaven is Holy."

El Santo de Dios

Queridos discípulos, paz.

El evangelista usa la voz de un hombre con un espíritu inmundo para identificar con mayor precisión quién es Jesús: ¡El Santo de Dios! Esta expresión sintetiza la identidad del Maestro de la manera más peculiar.

La santidad fue una marca del ministerio de Jesús y de su proximidad con Dios, el Santo por excelencia. Jesús es Santo porque es Dios con el Padre y el Espíritu Santo. También porque en Su vida y corazón no hubo espacio para el egoísmo, ni éste influyó en Sus acciones. En Él todo era continua oblación y entrega al Padre y a nosotros. Su vida fue y sigue siendo un continuo salir de sí mismo para servir. Nadie entra en contacto con Él sin ser acogido y tocado. Su lucha contra el mal y la injusticia fue también expresión de su santidad. Su santidad no le permitió cerrar los ojos ante la corrupción y la opresión de los más pequeños, ni ante la marginación de los débiles e indefensos. Precisamente por su santidad, se puso del lado opuesto de las fuerzas adversarias del Reino de Dios, sin temer las consecuencias.

La fuente de su santidad fue y es Dios Padre y el Espíritu Santo, con quienes estuvo y está siempre en perfecta comunión. Una santidad profundamente teológica.

Que el Espíritu Santo nos haga "Santos como [nuestro] Padre que está en los cielos es Santo".
