Dear Fellow Disciples, let us say "Maranatha"!

The "way" is a constant theme in the Bible. The historical tradition was the way leading out of the land of oppression - Egypt - to the land of brotherhood, through which milk and honey flow, the Promised Land. The sapiential (wisdom) tradition speaks of the way of life, referring to the choice of good and truth, instead of the way of death, impiety, and perversion.

The legal tradition corresponds to the practice of the Law. In the prophecy of Isaiah, it refers to the heart of the people exiled in Babylon and their call to conversion.

The evangelical tradition applies to Jesus the metaphor of the "way". He is the Way. Through Him, we, his disciples, can reach the Father. Without Him, it is not wise to try to reach the Father, for there are only false ways.

When John the Baptist started his ministry of preparing the way of the Lord, he did not have the sufficient conscience to call Jesus the Way. His invitation to the people searching for conversion was aimed at sensitizing them for the imminent coming of the Messiah and their need for conversion. This is an important step, to recognize Jesus as the Way to communion with the Father.

May the Holy Spirit help us to recognize, to accept, and to always commit more to Jesus who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. And through Him to be in communion with the Father.

El Camino del Señor

Queridos discípulos, ¡digamos "Maranata"!

El "camino" es un tema constante en la Biblia. La tradición histórica era el camino que conducía desde la tierra de la opresión -Egipto- a la tierra de la hermandad, a través de la cual fluyen leche y miel, la Tierra Prometida. La tradición sapiencial (sabiduría) habla del camino de la vida, refiriéndose a la elección del bien y la verdad, en lugar del camino de la muerte, la impiedad y la perversión. La tradición jurídica corresponde a la práctica del Derecho. En la profecía de Isaías se refiere al corazón del pueblo exiliado en Babilonia y su llamado a la conversión.

La tradición evangélica aplica a Jesús la metáfora del "camino". Él es el Camino. A través de Él, nosotros, sus discípulos, podemos llegar al Padre. Sin Él, no es sabio intentar llegar al Padre, porque sólo hay caminos falsos.

Cuando Juan el Bautista inició su ministerio de preparar el camino del Señor, no tenía la conciencia suficiente para llamar a Jesús el Camino. Su invitación al pueblo en busca de conversión tenía como objetivo sensibilizarlo sobre la inminente venida del Mesías y su necesidad de conversión. Este es un paso importante, reconocer a Jesús como el Camino a la comunión con el Padre.

Que el Espíritu Santo nos ayude a reconocer, aceptar y comprometernos más con Jesús que es el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida. Y por Él estar en comunión con el Padre.
