In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. The rich man had everything he could wish for, but he failed to notice the poor man lying at his door. His sin was not simply wealth, but indifference. He lived for himself and ignored the mission that God had placed in front of him: to love his neighbor.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus teaches: “No servant can serve two masters… You cannot serve both God and mammon.” Discipleship always involves a choice. To follow Christ means to put Him first, above relationships, possessions, success, or comfort.
