He explained the Scriptures to them...and warmed their hearts

Dear Fellow Disciples, peace.

The scene of the disciples of Emmaus calls our attention to a fact in the life of the disciples of all times. The Master walks with them! He explains the Scriptures to them! (First Bible study in the NT). He opens their intelligence to understand the cross as a necessary and obligatory step in discipleship.

As for the disciples of Emmaus, the temptation to give up is also present today. Especially when life gets harder and more difficult. Frustration builds up and the impulse to leave everything kicks in. It is right at that point that we need to run back to Jesus and let His risen presence protect us, to illuminate us, and to guide us.

May the Holy Spirit keep alert and prepare against all temptations to give up discipleship.

Él Les Explicó las Escrituras...y Calentó sus Corazones

Queridos discípulos, paz.

La escena de los discípulos de Emaús llama nuestra atención sobre un hecho en la vida de los discípulos de todos los tiempos. ¡El Maestro camina con ellos! ¡Él les explica las Escrituras! (Primer estudio bíblico en el NT). Abre su inteligencia para comprender la cruz como un paso necesario y obligatorio en el discipulado.

En cuanto a los discípulos de Emaús, la tentación de rendirse también está presente hoy. Especialmente cuando la vida se vuelve cada vez más difícil. La frustración aumenta y surge el impulso de dejarlo todo. Es justo en ese momento que debemos volver corriendo a Jesús y dejar que su presencia resucitada nos proteja, nos ilumine y nos guíe.

Que el Espíritu Santo los mantenga alerta y los prepare contra todas las tentaciones de abandonar el discipulado.
