Hosanna to the Crucified Son

Dear Fellow disciples, peace.

The chief of the Roman soldiers recognizes the son of God in the crucified Jesus. He makes a confession of faith as a disciple. This was the intent of the evangelist Mark all along in his version of the gospel.

The centurion's confession passes through the contemplation of the crucified master, in whom he (and we) recognize the Son of God. He confesses Jesus as the Messiah, the Christ.

The passion and death on the cross were inescapable stages in Jesus' life, not because of destiny but rather because of his insistence to be obedient to the Father. Whoever, like Him, wishes to be obedient to the Father, will follow in His footsteps and will pass through the cross.

The Risen Lord is the one who passed through the cross! There is no other. May the Holy Spirit inspire us and empower us to love and embrace the cross, our cross, and so unite us with the Crucified and Risen Lord.

Hosana al Hijo Crucificado

Queridos discípulos, paz.

El jefe de los soldados romanos reconoce al hijo de Dios en Jesús crucificado. Hace una confesión de fe como discípulo. Esta fue la intención del evangelista Marcos en todo momento en su versión del evangelio.

La confesión del centurión pasa por la contemplación del maestro crucificado, en quien él (y nosotros) reconocemos al Hijo de Dios. Confiesa a Jesús como el Mesías, el Cristo.

La pasión y la muerte en la cruz fueron etapas ineludibles en la vida de Jesús, no por el destino sino por su insistencia en ser obedientes al Padre. Quien, como Él, quiera ser obediente al Padre, seguirá sus huellas y pasará por la cruz. ¡El Señor Resucitado es quien pasó por la cruz! No hay otro.

Que el Espíritu Santo nos inspire y nos capacite para amar y abrazar la cruz, nuestra cruz, y así unirnos al Señor Crucificado y Resucitado.
