Humility in our Greatness

This week we are celebrating our Patron Feast. This week we have special readings that express the life of Saint Rose of Lima and her life as a holy woman that cared for people experiencing poverty of her time. The reading of the book of Sirach gives us an introduction to the life of Holiness.
Humility and greatness come together; it might sound like two polar words. However, if we look at the life of Saint Rose of Lima, it shows that these two words come to express the life of a Saint. Brothers and Sisters, let us come together and celebrate the life of this saint and learn from Saint Rose.
Let us come and become humble, for in our humility, the greatest exaltation that comes from God is given to us. The exaltation in which we unite ourselves to those who are in need. “For great is the power of the Lord; by the humble he is glorified.” Then let us take those words and glorify the Lord in unity with Saint Rose of Lima. Let our humbleness and our action toward our brothers and sisters in need, speak the glory of the Lord.

Humildad en nuestra Grandeza
Hermanos y hermanas,
Esta semana estamos celebrando nuestra Fiesta Patronal. Esta semana tenemos lecturas especiales que expresan la vida de Santa Rosa de Lima y su vida como una mujer santa que cuidó de las personas en pobreza de su tiempo. La lectura del libro del Eclesiástico nos da una introducción a la vida de santidad.
La humildad y la grandeza se unen; puede sonar como dos palabras polares. Sin embargo, si nos fijamos en la vida de Santa Rosa de Lima, se nota que estas dos palabras vienen a expresar la vida de una Santa. Hermanos y hermanas, unámonos y celebremos la vida de este santo y aprendamos de Santa Rosa. Vengamos y volvámonos humildes, porque en nuestra humildad se nos da la mayor exaltación que viene de Dios. La exaltación en la que nos unimos a los necesitados. “Porque grande es el poder del Señor; por los humildes es glorificado.” Entonces tomemos esas palabras y glorifiquemos al Señor en unidad con Santa Rosa de Lima. Que nuestra humildad y nuestra acción hacia nuestros hermanos y hermanas en necesidad hablen de la gloria del Señor.
