The Devil at work

Dear Fellow Disciples, peace.

Jesus warned us about the influence of evil in our lives. It is naive to think that we are free from the attacks of the forces of the anti- Kingdom, anti-God, anti-Church. Even worse is to convince ourselves and others that the devil doesn't exist. This is what he wants in order to deceive more, confuse more, destroy more. God's enemy, and ours, aims to neutralize the work of God in the world and our lives.

While Jesus sows seeds of mercy and forgiveness, there was and is the one who tries to encourage selfishness and vengeance. The antithesis of Jesus' teaching on love is vengeance and hatred. Jesus points out that when evil is sowed in our hearts it can be detected only at the end of a long process, through its fruits. That's why the disciple needs to stay close to the Master, to His teaching, to His Church and sacraments. In continuous prayer for the gifts of the Holy Spirit who will guide and reveal to him where the devil is trying to attack.

We, as disciples of Jesus, through the Church and the sacraments, already have all the tools we need to fight the good fight of the faith. Let us get to know these gifts and use them wisely.

Come Holy Spirit! Give us your gifts, your vision, and guidance. Help us to be the best and faithful disciples of Jesus Christ today. Do not allow us to be deceived, confused nor destroyed by Satan or his disciples. But rather, allow us to be heralds of light, peace, love, and truth always and wherever we go. Amen.

El Diablo Trabajando

Queridos discípulos, paz.

Jesús nos advirtió sobre la influencia del mal en nuestras vidas. Es ingenuo pensar que estamos libres de los ataques de las fuerzas del anti-Reino, anti-Dios, anti-Iglesia. Peor aún es convencernos a nosotros mismos y a los demás de que el diablo no existe. Esto es lo que quiere para engañar más, confundir más, destruir más. El enemigo de Dios, y el nuestro, pretende neutralizar la obra de Dios en el mundo y en nuestras vidas.

Mientras Jesús siembra semillas de misericordia y perdón, hubo y hay quien trata de fomentar el egoísmo y la venganza. La antítesis de la enseñanza de Jesús sobre el amor es la venganza y el odio. Jesús señala que cuando el mal está sembrado en nuestros corazones sólo puede detectarse al final de un largo proceso, a través de sus frutos. Por eso el discípulo necesita estar cerca del Maestro, de su enseñanza, de su Iglesia y de los sacramentos. Necesita estar en oración continua por los dones del Espíritu Santo que le guiará y le revelará dónde el demonio quiere atacar.

Nosotros, como discípulos de Jesús, a través de la Iglesia y los sacramentos, ya tenemos todas las herramientas que necesitamos para pelear la buena batalla de la fe. Conozcamos estos dones y usémoslos sabiamente.

¡Ven, espíritu santo! Danos tus dones, tu visión y guía. Ayúdanos a ser los mejores y fieles discípulos de Jesucristo hoy. No permitas que satanás o sus discípulos nos engañen, confundan ni destruyan. Al contrario, permítenos ser heraldos de luz, paz, amor y verdad siempre y dondequiera que vayamos.
