A Greater Love

Dear Fellow disciples, peace.

This Sunday’s Gospel reports maybe the hardest demand of Jesus to his disciples. He must be at the center, first place, in the life of each disciple.

To love Jesus implies having Him and His gospel at the center of our existence as the motor that gives strength and life to everything. It is to take all choices and decisions having in mind our sense of belonging to Him. He will become the source and the light of every step we make and every breath we take. There is no compromise! Our other loves must stay behind His. Otherwise, it will not be true love.

The faithful disciple will not fear to put God first, above his father and mother, for if he is centered in God he will consequently obey the Commandments and it includes, “Honor thy father and mother”.

May the Holy Spirit empower us to renew every day our decision for the primacy of God in our lives.

Un Amor Mayor

Queridos condiscípulos, paz.

Este Evangelio dominical relata, quizás, las exigencias más duras de Jesús a sus discípulos. Él debe estar en el centro, en primer lugar, en la vida de cada discípulo.

Amar a Jesús implica tenerlo a Él ya su evangelio en el centro de nuestra existencia como motor que da fuerza y vida a todo. Es tomar todas las opciones y decisiones teniendo en cuenta nuestro sentido de pertenencia a Él. Él se convertirá en la fuente y la luz de cada paso que demos y cada respiración que tomemos. ¡No hay compromiso! Nuestros otros amores deben permanecer detrás del Suyo. De lo contrario, no será amor verdadero.

El discípulo fiel no temerá poner a Dios en primer lugar, por encima de su padre y de su madre, pues si está centrado en Dios obedecerá consecuentemente los Mandamientos e incluye, “Honra al padre ya la madre”.

Que el Espíritu Santo nos capacite para renovar cada día nuestra decisión por la primacía de Dios en nuestras vidas.
