We are in God's Hands

Dear Fellow Disciples, peace.

There will always be forces against the building up of the Kingdom of God in this world. Those forces will try to misguide, deviate and deceive the disciples of Jesus. Those called by Him to build the kingdom here and now. The disciples will be faced with a hard price to pay for staying faithful to God.

Their courage comes from the sure hope that their life is in God's hands. For this reason, there is nothing to fear, not even these diabolical forces. They know that nothing happens in their life that is not controlled and permitted by God.

Jesus illustrated this conviction with a metaphor. God knows even the number of hairs on His disciples' heads. So, why should the disciples worry about their destiny? If God is interested in such a small matter, is He not interested in the most important and fundamental matters? Therefore the disciples will be identified by their courage in facing the challenges in their witness and mission. If God is with us there is nothing to fear.

In the concreticity of our daily life, individually and as a parish community, we'll be tempted and challenged to just keep the status quo or even worse, to work against the building up of the Kingdom of God here. That's why we'll need the virtue of fortitude, the courage, to confront temptation and challenges, with the armor of God. We will need perseverance and constancy to keep pressing on and pressing forward. Remember "God is with us", the Emmanuel.

May the Holy Spirit stay with us and keep working in us, and may we stick to God's vision for ourselves and for our parish.

Estamos en las Manos de Dios

Queridos compañeros discípulos, paz.

Siempre habrá fuerzas en contra de la edificación del Reino de Dios en este mundo. Esas fuerzas tratarán de desviar, y engañar a los discípulos de Jesús. Los llamados por Él para construir el reino aquí y ahora. Los discípulos se enfrentarán a un precio muy alto a pagar por permanecer fieles a Dios.

Su valor proviene de la esperanza segura de que su vida está en manos de Dios. Por eso no hay nada que temer, ni siquiera estas fuerzas diabólicas. Saben que nada sucede en su vida que no esté controlado y permitido por Dios. Jesús ilustró esta convicción con una metáfora. Dios sabe hasta el número de cabellos en la cabeza de Sus discípulos. Entonces, ¿por qué los discípulos deberían preocuparse por su destino? Si Dios está interesado en un asunto tan pequeño, ¿no está interesado en los asuntos más importantes y fundamentales? Por tanto, los discípulos se identificarán por su valentía al afrontar los desafíos en su testimonio y misión. Si Dios está con nosotros no hay nada que temer.

En la concreción de nuestra vida diaria, individualmente y como comunidad parroquial, seremos tentados y desafiados a mantener el statu quo o, peor aún, a trabajar en contra de la construcción del Reino de Dios aquí. Por eso necesitaremos la virtud de la fortaleza, el coraje, para afrontar la tentación y los desafíos, con la armadura de Dios. Necesitaremos perseverancia y constancia para seguir adelante, y seguir adelante. Recuerda "Dios está con nosotros", el Emmanuel.

Que el Espíritu Santo se quede con nosotros y siga obrando en nosotros, y que nos apeguemos a la visión de Dios para nosotros y para nuestra parroquia.
