Dear Fellow Disciples, peace.

On this Second Sunday of Lent, the Gospel presents us with the Transfiguration of the Lord (Matthew 17:1-9). Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up the mountain. There, His glory is revealed. His face shines like the sun. His clothes become dazzling white. And the Father's voice declares: "This is my beloved Son. Listen to Him."

Lent is our mountain. Discipleship is not only walking with Jesus on the dusty roads of daily life - it is also allowing Him to take us up the mountain so that our vision may change. Before the Cross, Jesus gives His disciples a glimpse of glory. Before suffering, He reveals light. Before scandal, He strengthens faith.

Every true disciple needs moments of transfiguration - moments of prayer, silence, adoration - where we see not only who Jesus is, but who we are called to become.

Notice something important: the disciples did not climb the mountain on their own initiative. Jesus led them. Discipleship always begins with His invitation. And on the mountain, they do not speak much - except Peter, who wants to build tents and remain there. But the Christian life is not about staying on the mountain. It is about being transformed there so that we can descend with courage.

The Father gives only one command: "Listen to Him." This is the heart of discipleship. To listen to Jesus means:

• To trust Him when the path leads to the Cross.
• To believe in glory even when we do not see it.
• To follow Him down the mountain into service, sacrifice, and love.

Lent asks us:

• Are we willing to climb with Him?
• Are we willing to listen?
• Are we willing to let Him transform us?

The light of the Transfiguration is not meant to blind us - it is meant to prepare us. Because the same Jesus who shines on the mountain will hang on the Cross. And the same disciples who glimpse His glory must learn to follow Him in suffering.

True discipleship is this journey: Mountain → Cross → Resurrection.

May this Lent be our mountain - a time of deeper prayer, attentive listening, and renewed commitment. And when we come down from it, may we carry His light into a world that desperately needs it.

May the Holy Spirit who led Jesus into the desert last Sunday lead us up the mountain to contemplate Jesus' glory, be strengthened, transformed and once we descend may our life and service reflects His glory.

La Transfiguración

Quepaz.ridos Discipulos, 

En este segundo domingo de Cuaresma, el Evangelio nos presenta la Transfiguración del Señor (Mateo 17:1-9). Jesús lleva a Pedro, Santiago y Juan a la montaña. Allí, su gloria se revela. Su rostro brilla como el sol. Sus vestiduras se tornan de un blanco resplandeciente. Y la voz del Padre declara: "Este es mi Hijo amado. Escúchenlo."

La Cuaresma es nuestra montaña. El discipulado no es solo caminar con Jesús por los caminos polvorientos de la vida diaria, sino también permitirle que nos lleve a la cima para que nuestra visión cambie. Ante la cruz, Jesús ofrece a sus discípulos un destello de gloria. Ante el sufrimiento, revela la luz. Ante el escándalo, fortalece la fe.

Todo verdadero discípulo necesita momentos de transfiguración: momentos de oración, silencio, adoración, donde veamos no sólo quién es Jesús, sino quiénes estamos llamados a ser.

Observen algo importante: los discípulos no subieron la montaña por iniciativa propia. Jesús los guió. El discipulado siempre comienza con su invitación. Y en la montaña, no hablan mucho, excepto Pedro, quien quiere construir tiendas y quedarse allí. Pero la vida cristiana no se trata de quedarse en la montaña. Se trata de ser transformados allí para poder descender con valentía.

El Padre da sólo un mandato: "Escuchadle." Éste es el corazón del discipulado. Escuchar a Jesús significa:

• Confiar en Él cuando el camino conduce a la Cruz.
• Creer en la gloria incluso cuando no la vemos.
• Seguirlo montaña abajo hacia el servicio, el sacrificio y el amor.

La Cuaresma nos pregunta:

• ¿Estamos dispuestos a escalar con Él?
• ¿Estamos dispuestos a escuchar?
• ¿Estamos dispuestos a dejar que Él nos transforme?

La luz de la Transfiguración no pretende cegarnos, sino prepararnos. Porque el mismo Jesús que brilla en el monte será crucificado. Y los mismos discípulos que vislumbran su gloria deben aprender a seguirlo en el sufrimiento.

El verdadero discipulado es este viaje: Montaña → Cruz → Resurrección.

Que esta Cuaresma sea nuestra montaña: un tiempo de oración más profunda, escucha atenta y compromiso renovado. Y al descender, que llevemos su luz a un mundo que la necesita desesperadamente.

Que el Espíritu Santo que guió a Jesús al desierto el domingo pasado nos lleve a la montaña para contemplar la gloria de Jesús, sea fortalecido, transformado y una vez que descendamos, nuestra vida y servicio reflejen Su gloria.
