Demolition of the former structure is complete, and we are preparing for the next exciting phase. IKON Construction remains our trusted partner, and we’re moving steadily toward groundbreaking. On October 14th, we received approval from Bishop Spalding to proceed with construction. Contracts have been approved by the diocesan legal team and sent to IKON for signature. Final design work for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are underway. Once complete, we will file for a building permit — construction expected to begin four to six weeks after filing. Additionally, we’ve directed the architect to revise the plans to remove the Food Pantry and designate that space as a Youth Center. Once revised documents are received, we will file a Change Order with the contractor.
We’re thrilled to share that a new layout for the athletic fields has been completed! This updated design reflects our ongoing commitment to stewardship of the land and thoughtful use of space — balancing recreation, accessibility, and natural beauty. The revised plan continues to prioritize tree preservation while optimizing areas for parking, picnic gatherings, and sports activities.
Our planning partner, GSP, has worked diligently to ensure the layout supports both current needs and future growth. We’ve roughly located the fields on the property north of the main campus and begun clearing activity to allow surveyors better access. Once the underbrush thins, we’ll complete the survey and more definitively locate the fields. Next steps include geotechnical engineering and preparing a preliminary set of plans for pricing.
We’re pleased to announce that the City of Murfreesboro has officially approved the building sign and issued the permit — a meaningful step forward in welcoming all who visit this space.
Plans have been finalized and pricing received for the construction of additional parking south of the building where the Food Pantry is located. The contract is now under review by the diocesan legal team. We hope to begin work in the coming weeks. These new stalls will further enhance accessibility and hospitality across our campus.
We continue to make progress on the Columbarium project. Wayne Overman is working closely with Tom Fix and Bill Smith on final details. On October 9, Maintenance Director Christopher Young and Wayne videoed the drainage lines in the area. On November 5, Wayne will meet with Sam Bates, the engineer, and the contractor to finalize project details and give direction to complete the design.
