It's Time for Mission

Dear Fellow Disciples, peace.

The Solemnity of the Ascension of Our Lord marks the return of Jesus to the right hand of the Father and the beginning of His disciples' mission. "Go and make disciples!" is imperative for the apostles and disciples who are sent to continue the ministry of their Master.

The Risen Lord empowers His followers to act in His name, with His authority. Their mission is to present, to propose Jesus to others and His idea of the Kingdom, to make disciples from all peoples, and to show the will of God against all forms of idolatry and heresy. Baptism in the name of the Trinity, no more in the name of Jesus only, would be the seal of discipleship, the beginning of the journey towards the Kingdom of God, towards heaven.

This Solemnity also reminds us and is prefigured in the experience of the disciples of Emmaus. They recognized Him in the break of the bread...he disappeared in front of their eyes. Where did Jesus go? The fathers of the Church answered saying, "He went into the bread".

After the ascension Jesus' presence will remain with us until the end of time in the bread, offered, consecrated, adored, and received by the Church in the Most Holy Eucharist. In the hands of the priest, an unworthy servant, Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit and the Will of the Father, becomes bread, and the bread becomes His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. In this way, His presence will continue in history and in the Church until He comes again.

No wonder, the Holy Eucharist is so persecuted by the children of darkness. We are responsible to protect, cherish and receive this Holy Gift.

Our mission, given by the Ascending Jesus, is to go and witness and proclaim His truth and love, and make disciples who would do the same. May the Holy Spirit be our guide and the Holy Eucharist our strength for the glory of God the Father.

¡Es Hora de la Misión!

Queridos discípulos, paz.

La solemnidad de la Ascensión de Nuestro Señor marca el regreso de Jesús a la diestra del Padre y el comienzo de la misión de sus discípulos. "¡Vayan y hagan discípulos!" es imperativo para los apóstoles y discípulos que son enviados continuar el ministerio de su Maestro. El Señor Resucitado faculta a Sus seguidores para actuar en Su nombre, con Su autoridad. Su misión es presentar, proponer a Jesús a los demás y su idea del Reino, hacer discípulos de todos los pueblos y mostrar la voluntad de Dios contra toda forma de idolatría y herejía. El bautismo en el nombre de la Trinidad, ya no sólo en el nombre de Jesús, sería el sello del discipulado, el inicio del camino hacia el Reino de Dios, hacia el cielo.

Esta Solemnidad también nos recuerda y está prefigurada en la experiencia de los discípulos de Emaús. Lo reconocieron al partir el pan... desapareció ante sus ojos. ¿A donde fue Jesus? Los padres de la Iglesia respondieron diciendo: "Se metió en el pan". Después de la ascensión, la presencia de Jesús permanecerá con nosotros hasta el final de los tiempos en el pan, ofrecido, consagrado, adorado y recibido por la Iglesia en la Santísima Eucaristía. En manos del sacerdote, siervo indigno, Jesús, por el poder del Espíritu Santo y la Voluntad del Padre, se hace pan, y el pan se vuelve Su Cuerpo, Sangre, Alma y Divinidad. De esta manera, Su presencia continuará en la historia y en la Iglesia hasta que Él venga de nuevo.

Con razón, la Sagrada Eucaristía es tan perseguida por los hijos de las tinieblas. Somos responsables de proteger, apreciar y recibir este Santo Don.

Nuestra misión, dada por Jesús Ascendente, es ir y testimoniar y proclamar Su verdad y amor, y hacer discípulos que hagan lo mismo. Que el Espíritu Santo sea nuestro guía y la Sagrada Eucaristía nuestra fuerza para la gloria de Dios Padre.
