Divine Filiation

"Divine filiation" is a theological term for the fact that we are God's children, and it is the most important thing to know about ourselves. For the first time today, the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, Jesus in His humanity is publicly acknowledged by the Father as His Son. This is what God the Father does in Baptism. He acknowledges His children.

If you are baptized, you are a child of God. It is the greatest thing that can ever happen to you! Baptism is about establishing this relationship with the Father. That is why it is so appropriate for infants to be baptized.

This is your identity, and God gives it to you. You don't earn it, and you can't lose it. From the day of your baptism on, God sees you as His child. What would it be like to remember this always? How much peace and confidence you would have! How well you would live, if you remembered that you are a child of God all the time!

Filiación Divina

"Filiación divina" es un término teológico para describir nuestro parentesco, el hecho de que somos hijos de Dios, y es lo más importante que debemos saber sobre nosotros mismos. Por primera vez hoy, en la Fiesta del Bautismo del Señor, Jesús en su humanidad, es reconocido públicamente por el Padre como Su Hijo. Esto es lo que Dios el Padre hace en el Bautismo. Él reconoce a sus hijos.

Si eres bautizado, eres un hijo de Dios. ¡Es lo mejor que te puede pasar! El bautismo se trata de establecer esta relación con el Padre. Por eso es tan apropiado que los bebés sean bautizados.

Esta es tu identidad, y Dios te la da. No lo ganas, y no puedes perderlo. Desde el día de tu bautismo, Dios te ve como su hijo. ¿Cómo sería recordar esto siempre? ¡Cuánta paz y confianza tendrías si lo recordarás! ¡Qué bien vivirías si recordaras que eres un hijo de Dios todo el tiempo!
