The Weekend Backpack Food Ministry is now beginning to stock the Pantry for the preparation of the backpack bags for the 2017-2018 school year. We have begun backpack distributions at Kittrell Elementary School. During the 2016-2017 school year we delivered 925 backpack food bags to Kittrell Elementary School. Additionally, St. Rose joined with other Churches and Organizations to provide food bags to the Rutherford County Summer Feeding Program for two elementary schools this summer. Our St. Rose family made all of this possible.
As we prepare the Pantry for Backpack Bag preparations for the new school year, we would appreciate donations of any of the following items. We are required to place the following items in each bag.
In order that the students have something to eat during the day over the weekend, we additionally prepare a snack bag containing a combination of some of the following items, as available: protein bars, fruit & grain bars, peanut butter crackers, cheese crackers, Slim Jims, raisins, fruit gummy snacks
We would also appreciate donations of Zip Lock Sandwich bags and One Gallon size Zip Lock Bags
NOTE: Please keep in mind as you chose items to donate for the Backpacks, that the Ministry volunteers preparing the weekend backpack bags must place all of the weekend food items for the children in a single one gallon bag so that it will fit into their Backpacks. Size matters! Our students are Kindergarten-5th grade. Please write Backpack Meals on your donation bag and place it in the Pantry Food Chest located in the Narthex. Thank you for your generosity.
