This past Monday-Wednesday, I was in Cincinnati for a conference called "the amazing parish." It is about helping pastors to lead parishes well, both spiritually and practically. I am certainly happy that St. Rose is one of the four parishes chosen from our diocese to attend the conference and to implement the amazing parish process.

The transformation begins with each pastor having a leadership team with whom he consults a least weekly. The team provides the pastor both support and accountability in leadership. I can speak from experience that isolation is the biggest challenge to a pastor being an effective and joyful leader of his parish.

The first step was to form the team to attend the conference with me. I am very grateful to Sr. Catherine Marie, Deacon John D'Amico, Amy Swartz, and Kim Smith for enthusiastically agreeing to take on this demanding responsibility. The parish leadership team in no way replaces other parish structures but rather is a resource to the pastor to lead well.

Amazing parish is all about praying well together, working well together, and implementing well together. Already I can say that a leadership team is something I wish I had available to me much earlier in my priesthood. It will bless me, and it will bless the parish. Please continue to pray for me and for our parish leadership team.

¡Una parroquia increíble!

El pasado lunes y miércoles, estuve en Cincinnati para una conferencia llamada "la parroquia increíble". Se trata de ayudar a los pastores a dirigir bien las parroquias, tanto espiritual como prácticamente. Ciertamente estoy feliz de que St. Rose es una de las cuatro parroquias elegidas de nuestra diócesis para asistir a la conferencia e implementar el increíble proceso parroquial.

La transformación comienza con cada pastor y el equipo de liderazgo quienes consultan al menos semanalmente. El equipo proporciona al pastor tanto apoyo como responsabilidad en el liderazgo. Puedo decir por experiencia que la reclusión es el mayor desafío para un pastor que quiere ser un líder efectivo y alegre para su parroquia.

El primer paso fue formar el equipo para asistir a la conferencia conmigo. Estoy muy agradecido con la Hermana Catherine Marie, el Diácono John D'Amico, Amy Swartz y Kim Smith por aceptar con entusiasmo y asumir esta exigente responsabilidad. El equipo de liderazgo de la parroquia de ninguna manera reemplaza otras estructuras parroquiales, sino que es un recurso para que el pastor lidere bien.

La parroquia asombrosa se trata de orar bien juntos, trabajar bien juntos e implementar bien juntos. Puedo decir que un equipo de liderazgo es algo que hubiera deseado mucho antes en mi sacerdocio. Me bendecirá, y bendecirá a la parroquia. Por favor, continúen orando por mí y por el equipo de liderazgo de nuestra parroquia.
